A Lively, Independent Centre For Creativity In Rural North Yorkshire

Courses in painting, drawing, textiles and ceramics run by leading artists and makers from across the UK.

Since opening in 2017 the Studio has earned a reputation for thought-provoking creative events, giving participants the space and time to develop and discuss their work with like minded people. Throughout everything we do, we’re motivated by our passion to share creative practice and live a creative life here at The Lund.

Along with the original main studio in a converted red-brick dairy, we now have ‘The Drawing Barn’ - a large, open cattle barn lined with dedicated drawing walls - ideal for bold and messy work:

Lund Studios is part of ‘The Lund’ - home to Debbie Loane, Steve Pomfret and our family. Over the past 20 years we’ve converted a series of derelict farm buildings into a space to share and develop creative practice - hosting courses, residencies, studio space and exhibitions.

We aim to be ‘green and local’ whenever and wherever we can. Course costs are kept as low as possible so as to be as accessible to as many people as possible: Our knives and forks often don’t match, some of our cups may be chipped and we don’t have branded aprons ;-) What we DO have is a programme of inspirational courses and events run by the most amazing artists and makers!

Simple lunches and refreshments are included with our courses, prepared by Steve fresh in our own kitchen. Our wholesome bread is sourced from local Master Baker Dan Barrow at Stark Farm Bakery, with fresh fruit and veg from our local greengrocer, Simon at ‘Shirley’s Fruit and Veg’.
